The AquaStarz team is grateful to all of our wonderful parents who volunteer their time to support their swimmer’s success as both a synchronized swimmer and a team member. As our team grows and expands, we seek to establish and clarify our policies. These policies help to guide the organization and ensure continued success. Areas that are important to address are parent and swimmers' behavior - specifically, what type of behavior is expected during practices and meets. The following codes of conduct should help clarify these expectations:
- Parents should to be on time when picking up and dropping off their children from practice.
- Parents should be a positive role model for their child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all swimmers, coaches and officials at every practice and meet.
- Parents should refrain from coaching/talking to their children or coaches during practices unless the coach approaches them first. Just as in schools, we would not think to interrupt a child’s teacher during a lesson.
- For insurance purposes, all parents/visitors must sit or stand along the back fence at Civic Pool and at Community Pool should stand behind the gated area until practice is finished. Sitting on the diving boards is not permitted. Please inform all family members, babysitters etc. that this is our policy. If you have a Booster Membership in USA Synchro, you may enter the deck area (within 10 feet of the pool edge) only after the practice is finished. The consequences for parents not following this policy will be as follows:
- First, a verbal reminder will be given.
- Second, a written reminder will be issued.
- Third, the parent will not be allowed in the pool areas.
- Fourth, non-compliance with our policies will be referred to the Parent Board for possible suspension from the team.
- Parents should address any concerns to the coach only after practice has finished and the swimmers have left the area. Issues should never be discussed while the swimmers are present. If you need to talk at length to the coach, please make an appointment with her.
- Parents should direct unresolved conflicts to the parent board in writing. The issue will be addressed at the monthly board meeting (held the 3rd Tuesday of the month) and a written response will be sent to the parents.
- Parent's suggestions for improving the running of the team are welcome at board meetings. Remember that this is a parent run organization and all parents need to volunteer to help AquaStarz run smoothly.
- Communication is important - most of the club's information is sent via e-mail. Parents should read and respond to e-mailed and printed information. We currently do not have enough parent volunteers to individually call people or distribute all information in print so if you don't read e-mail (our main source of communication) please find a buddy who would be willing to get the information to you. Check your child's folder regularly and realize that kids sometimes will have information in their swim bag. If you would like to volunteer to set up a phone tree that would be great.
- On deck photography and videotaping during practices will be allowed only with the advanced permission of coach.
Compliance with the above policies will ensure that each swimmer will be permitted to participate in all team activities.
Remember that the key to any successful swimming organization relies on the following role definitions:
Swimmers --- Swim
Coaches --- Coach
Officials --- Officiate
Parents --- Parent
